Tempranillo is one of the great varieties of Spain, and one that has found a natural home at Dogrock. Grown across ‘Pedros Block’ at our estate vineyard at Crowlands, it responds beautifully to the conditions of Victoria’s Pyrenees, developing generous flavour and spice while retaining the freshness and savoury structure that define the variety.
For the 2023 vintage, fruit was picked in March before fermentation and basket pressing. The wine opens with rich spice and lifted floral aromatics, leading to a medium-bodied palate where generous fruit meets savoury tannins and balanced acidity. There is depth and warmth, but also freshness and definition.
Expressive and distinctly savoury, this is Tempranillo built around spice, dark fruit, florals and fine-grained tannins. Its balance of fruit, structure and acidity makes it particularly versatile at the table, while capturing what we love about growing Iberian varieties in the Pyrenees: character, generosity and a clear sense of place.
