eL Rojo is Dogrock’s flagship red blend — created from a selection of Grenache, Shiraz, Graciano and Touriga Nacional. Inspired by the great blended reds of the Iberian Peninsula and shaped by the conditions of Victoria’s Pyrenees, it brings together four varieties to create a wine of perfume, structure and complexity.
Handcrafted by winemaker Allen Hart, the 2022 eL Rojo draws something different from each component. Grenache brings fragrance and supple red fruit; Shiraz contributes depth and spice; Graciano brings savoury character and structure; while Touriga Nacional adds perfume, intensity and complexity. Together they create a wine that is beautifully perfumed, elegant and layered, with complexity unfolding through the palate rather than relying on sheer weight.
Dark and red fruits, florals, spice and savoury detail come together across a composed, persistent palate. eL Rojo captures the art of blending at Dogrock: allowing complementary varieties to create something more complex and complete than any one component alone.
Only 30 dozen bottles were produced from the 2022 vintage. Expressive enough to enjoy now with time in the glass, it also has the structure and complexity to develop beautifully with further cellaring.
